Cards of Revival - Part 1

Image
Well here is the first volley of revived cards! Without further adieu, let's show what was and what is. I would like to apologize for the way that the images are spaced; this platform is finicky. The structure will be such that the old cards are on the left and the new are on the right! Below are the card of Ablutophobia. With Ablutophobia, I liked the system that I already had, but it was unclean (pun intended) and generally a bit of a head-ache in game. I revamped it with a new set symbol, cleaner design, and a new illustration. Below are the card of Achluophobia. Achluophobia was in need of a complete rework. I decided to have it partner with a similar fear: Lygophobia, the fear of dark places, and from there made the card more playable, for what I envisioned the other phobia cards to be: curses. Acrophobia      I liked the idea of the flying-hate, and decided to keep the premise, ...

Revival

This will soon be revived. I will be providing new cards on the previous phobias and will provide new stuff as well. Just hold onto your hats, because this'll be a bumpy ride!

Idea

Something I realized, is that something that slows this blog is the forcing it to be alphabetical and I don't necessarily cover the phobias that I feel like at the time. That is what I will do. I will cover the phobias I have researched already, then phobias that I would like to!

Anthrophobia

Image
Anthrophobia - The intense and often irrational fear of people. Anthropophobia - The intense and often irrational fear of society. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WORD FACTS While these two phobias are technically different, with different subjects, they are commonly used interchangeably by psychologists and people in general (if you think people generally use phobia terms,) so I am covering both of these in one post with one card. Anthrophobia and Anthropophobia are derived from the Greek word anthropo , which means man. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- THE SCIENCE A fairly obvious fact about Anthropophobia is that it is a social phobia and a S.A.D. While Anthrophobia and Anthropophobia are fears of people and society respectively, they are often used as a blanketing ph...

Coming soon! (probably today)

Anthrophobia is coming soon! Probably today. If it isn't, that means I was a woos and stopped part way through or just didnt start even after writing this hype post. So hopefully it won't come to that!

Anablephobia

Image
Anablephobia - The intense and irrational fear of looking up. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WORD FACTS Anablephobia is derived from the Greek root ana , which means up, and the Latin root ble , which means when directly translated means "result of the act of" which needless to say is clunky. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- THE SCIENCE Sufferers commonly do not actually fear the action of looking up itself, rather what they might see. This can include seeing things straight out of Loony Toons like an anvil plummeting towards you, to something mundane such as rain or snow. Other sufferers fear looking up as a result of the psychological effects it has on them; many of these people feel that the vastness of the sky and outer space beyond will crumple them. They...

4th of July Special (Even though the fourth was yesterday...)

Image
This post contains NO NEW RESEARCH. This is simply going to contain two cards I have made that sum up what it would mean to fireworks. Acousticophobia and Pyrophobia. The Acousticophobia card is a remake but with a new art and icon. The pyrophobia hasn't been officially released yet so all that will be the same is... never mind. The only thing that will be different is that it will be a more pyrophobia-y image. HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY EVERONE! (Again; I know that this is being posted the day after.)

Ambulophobia

Image
Ambulophobia - Fear of Walking --------------------------------------------------------------------------- WORD FACTS: Ambulophobia is derived from the Latin word ambulō, ambulāre, ambulāvī, ambulatus/a/um , which means to walk. (Sorry that I put in all of the basic forms. I take Latin as a World Language and I know that one of the top of my head...) It is also derived from the Greek god of fear, Phobos. (Obviously.) --------------------------------------------------------------------------- SCIENCE: Ambulophobia typically doesn't manifest in early life, rather the older a person gets, the more likely they are to develop it and its symptoms. Sufferers typically will feel unsafe while walking and sometimes while standing up and will usually use a walking cane and sometimes confine themselves to a wheelchair. Ambulophobia is also closely related to Basophobia/Basiphobia & Statibasophobia/Stasiphobia, all of which pertain to the action of walking or standing. It also is ...

The Time is at Hand (An Unfortunate Name, as it was Already Used)

Image
Everyone! The time is at hand! I have a schedule in place that I will hopefully be sticking to. I have a lovely setup in Surf City at the library. The only wrinkle is that I will have to get up in time to arrive at 9 in the morning. I'll show you the relevant bits of my schedule. My Schedule As is Relevant to My Blog Note that I forgot to Include the Extra Research Section on my Saturday Schedule. Unfortunately, I spent all of today's time making this post and dealing with computer troubles trying to get a spreadsheet as an image. Please don't explain it to me in the comments, as I now understand and am embarrassed at how simple it was. Tomorrow I will be posting Ambulophobia. Don't forget to check out the rest of my blog! Also be sure to share with your friends and family! I Apologize That I Am What I Am

I apologize that I am what I am. A procrastinator. To be honest, when I realized that I hadn’t made the post that I had promised, I had started up think of all of the ways that I could make an excuse, think of everything that I had to do and exaggerate it and pretend as though there was no free time. Then I realized something: Its a little boy who cried wolf situation. When I keep exaggerating and saying that things came up, when it actually is that bad, people will call it to be a bluff. So **** it. I am a procrastinator. I have been procrastinating my posts for a while now, because I have been intimidated to get back into the flow of research and posting. Those who have seen my activity on the Cardsmith Forums can attest to that. (The fact that I have had time on my hands.)  I WILL... however, post when I am done my finals as I need to study now and then take them as of Monday. At that moment there will begin the tedious process of the “recalibration” of my routine. I will sta...
