Cards of Revival - Part 1



Well here is the first volley of revived cards! Without further adieu, let's show what was and what is.

I would like to apologize for the way that the images are spaced; this platform is finicky.

The structure will be such that the old cards are on the left and the new are on the right!

Below are the card of Ablutophobia.
Ablutophobia


With Ablutophobia, I liked the system that I already had, but it was unclean (pun intended) and generally a bit of a head-ache in game. I revamped it with a new set symbol, cleaner design, and a new illustration.

Achluophobia























Achluophobia was in need of a complete rework. I decided to have it partner with a similar fear: Lygophobia, the fear of dark places, and from there made the card more playable, for what I envisioned the other phobia cards to be: curses.

I liked the idea of the flying-hate, and decided to keep the premise, but revamp the execution in a way that made more sense with the color pie and a more nuanced sense of intent in-game.

Agliophobia 
         Agliophobia

Agliophobia was one of my favorite previous cards, in that the trigger made sense. I decided to make something more "in color". I decided to amp up the damage buff and make it more... painful that tapping lands.

Xenophobia

Xenophobia is rather common, which to be honest is kinda sad. Xenophobia is one of the most common fears in the world. I do understand why Xenophobia is prevalent; the fear of strange or foreign concepts is hardwired into the brain and has been there before we fully evolved to be Homo Sapiens. It was a necessary fear and was crucial to our survival; if we weren’t dubious and afraid of things we didn’t know, we would’ve carelessly wandered into countless brutal deaths. This fear is no longer needed to survive each and every day, but it still exists. This hardwired fear is still more or less ubiquitous, because it hasn’t been that long since the point when this was survival necessary, at least on the scale of evolution. Ambulophobia

Ambulophobia - Fear of Walking --------------------------------------------------------------------------- WORD FACTS: Ambulophobia is derived from the Latin word ambulō, ambulāre, ambulāvī, ambulatus/a/um , which means to walk. (Sorry that I put in all of the basic forms. I take Latin as a World Language and I know that one of the top of my head...) It is also derived from the Greek god of fear, Phobos.
