Ambulophobia
Ambulophobia - Fear of Walking
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
WORD FACTS:
Ambulophobia is derived from the Latin word ambulō, ambulāre, ambulāvī, ambulatus/a/um, which means to walk. (Sorry that I put in all of the basic forms. I take Latin as a World Language and I know that one of the top of my head...)
It is also derived from the Greek god of fear, Phobos. (Obviously.)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
SCIENCE:
Ambulophobia typically doesn't manifest in early life, rather the older a person gets, the more likely they are to develop it and its symptoms. Sufferers typically will feel unsafe while walking and sometimes while standing up and will usually use a walking cane and sometimes confine themselves to a wheelchair. Ambulophobia is also closely related to Basophobia/Basiphobia & Statibasophobia/Stasiphobia, all of which pertain to the action of walking or standing. It also is commonly paired with Bathmophobia, the fear of stairs and/or steep slopes. It is loosely related to Barophobia which is the fear of a loss of gravity.

SCIENCE PART II (Causes):
Ambulophobia is a bit more understood in terms of its causes; while many phobias can be explained by trauma and/or genetics, ambulophobia also has some physical conditions that develop into it. Someone who suffers from osteoporosis, arthritis, bursitis, or tendinitis could begin to fear the pain that comes with walking and might begin to fear the idea of walking altogether. It is also believed to be an extension of in-born fears coupled with beliefs of being unsafe. Bone demineralization, recent paralysis attacks, and other similar conditions can lead to the development of ambulophobia. Most elderly sufferers also suffer from Parkinson's Disease, which may be related; but it is unclear whether that is the case or a mere coincidence. Lastly, as was implied at the beginning of the section, ambulophobia can be caused by a mix of trauma and unlucky genetics.

THE CARD:
I decided to make the card debilitate any creatures that attacked or blocked by land in a way that would represent the pain that either causes or comes with ambulophobia. The card was made a red/white because when I thought of creatures walking the first card I thought of was the Boros spell "Assemble the Legion" and I felt like it would be a good combo to help prevent your opponent from blocking your land creatures. If anyone has any suggestions, by all means, suggest away. If it is more thought out and more accurately representing than mine, I will get right on it.

Thanks for being patient with me as I am returning to my rhythm and continue to balance studying for the SATs, work, my blog, and free time. Expect more posts soon! But I'm afraid that I a- um... never mind... I was trying to do that sort of punny thing where I would say that I am afraid that my time is up, but being that at the moment I'm not really... never mind! It worked for my 20 Time speech. (If anyone has any idea how I can wrap that up with a similar jist that isn't completely awful, let me know please!)

So I just changed the theme to this one because I like the layout and the spooky trees in the image at the top, but I dont know why only this most recent post has an image supersized on the homepage. If anyone knows, let me know, and I will try and make it look normal.
